# Proof points (/docs/core-concepts/proof-points)

**Proof points** are the documents behind a signal: patents, news, research articles, earnings-call transcripts, PDFs, and grant projects. They live in document indexes, not the knowledge graph.

Use them when you need the **underlying record** — a URL, title, summary, or organization mention — rather than a pre-grouped event or a canonical deal.

Connect exposes each dataset as `POST /proof-points/{type}/search`, `/time-series`, and `/correlation-matrix`. See the [Proof points](/docs/proof-points) guides for request shapes.
